Short answer: as of October 21, 2026, Waymo serves six major US airports: Phoenix Sky Harbor (PHX), San José (SJC), San Francisco (SFO, via the Rental Car Center), San Antonio (SAT), Nashville (BNA) and Las Vegas (LAS). It does not serve LAX or Miami International for the public. At the newest airports, rides start with a limited group of riders.

Airport trips are one of the most useful robotaxi rides, and also the most confusing, because each airport has its own pickup zone and its own rules. Here is what we know for each one. Check the Waymo city list for the rest of each service area.

Phoenix also serves Scottsdale Airpark, and Waymo says Phoenix-Mesa Gateway will follow.

How an airport pickup works

  1. Book after you have your bags. The car will only wait a short time at a busy curb, so request it once you are walking out.
  2. Choose the airport pickup point the app suggests. Airports only let robotaxis stop in specific zones. The app will not let you drop a pin at an arbitrary door.
  3. Look for your initials. Waymo cars show your initials on the roof dome. You can also make the car play a melody or honk from the app.
  4. Unlock in the app, load the trunk, then press Start. Waymo's rules require bags in the trunk or cabin, fully inside the car.

If you are matched through Uber in Austin or Atlanta, those cities don't have Waymo airport service. The Uber app will send a regular driver for airport trips.

Phoenix Sky Harbor: the easiest one

Phoenix was the first airport in the world with robotaxi service, and it is still the simplest: Waymo picks up and drops off at the curb of the terminals around the clock. Since July 29, 2026, Waymo has been bringing back freeway routing, which makes trips from Scottsdale, Tempe or Chandler faster.

San Francisco and San José

At SJC, Waymo uses the Ground Transportation Centers at both terminals. At SFO, the service began on January 29, 2026, but only to and from the Rental Car Center: you ride the free AirTrain between the terminals and the car. Access started with a limited number of riders, and local reports in summer 2026 described riders having trouble with the service. Check the app before you count on it for a tight flight. With freeway trips still paused in the Bay Area, a ride from downtown San Francisco to SFO uses surface streets and takes longer than a freeway taxi.

Las Vegas: two robotaxis at the same airport

Waymo began airport trips at Harry Reid on October 21, 2026, from dedicated autonomous vehicle zones at Terminal 1 and Terminal 3, initially for a few riders. Amazon's Zoox has served the airport since September 2026 at the same terminals (pickup at Terminal 1 Level 0 and Terminal 3 Level 0, Door 55, according to a tracker that checked in September), and charges a destination fee for airport trips.

Airports without Waymo

  • LAX: no service. Waymo's Los Angeles area does not include the airport.
  • Miami (MIA): employees only so far.
  • Austin (AUS), Atlanta (ATL), Dallas, Houston, Orlando, Tampa, Denver and San Diego: no public Waymo airport service yet. In Orlando, Tesla's Robotaxi zone reaches near MCO but has no terminal pickups.

Frequently asked questions

Does Waymo go to LAX?

No. As of October 2026 Waymo does not pick up or drop off at Los Angeles International Airport. Use another ride to LAX, or take Waymo to a point inside its service area.

Can Waymo take me to SFO?

Yes, but at first only to and from the SFO Rental Car Center, which links to the terminals by the free AirTrain. Access started with a limited number of riders and is expanding gradually.

Is there room for luggage in a Waymo?

Yes. The Jaguar I-PACE has a rear hatch and Waymo's rules ask you to put bags in the trunk or cabin. Large items must fit fully inside the car. Four riders with four large suitcases will be tight.

Do Waymo airport rides cost more?

Waymo shows the full price before you book. Airport trips are often longer and fall at busy times, so they can be priced higher, but Waymo has not published a separate airport fee.

Update log

  • Added Las Vegas Harry Reid (Terminals 1 and 3), launched today for a limited group of riders.
  • Added Nashville International (BNA), limited riders at launch.
