Short answer: in Las Vegas you can ride Amazon's Zoox, a boxy robotaxi with no steering wheel, on the Strip and at the airport with the Zoox app; it has charged fares since August 10, 2026. Waymo has been letting riders in gradually since September 14, 2026 and started airport trips on October 21. Tesla has a permit but no riders yet.
Las Vegas is the one city where two different driverless services compete on the same streets, and where the vehicles look most different. Here is how each one works for a visitor.

Riding Zoox on the Strip
Zoox is the robotaxi most visitors photograph: a small, symmetrical pod that can drive in both directions, with carriage-style seats facing each other. Zoox opened free public rides in September 2025 and began charging on August 10, 2026, after federal approval for its vehicle. Instead of door-to-door service, it uses set pickup and drop-off points, usually the ride-hail zone of each hotel or venue.
- Download the Zoox app and create an account.
- Choose a pickup and a destination from the list of stops.
- Check the fare: base fare plus distance and time, with destination fees for the airport, Sphere and T-Mobile Arena. A longer route doesn't change the quoted price.
- Meet the vehicle at the hotel's ride-hail area and unlock it in the app.
Zoox has not published its base fare. It says it targets prices similar to the "comfort" tier of ride-hail apps. See our Zoox guide.
Waymo in Las Vegas
Waymo began its gradual rollout in Las Vegas on September 14, 2026, covering about 24 square miles at launch, and on October 21 started trips to and from Harry Reid airport for a small group of riders. Unlike Zoox, Waymo goes door to door within its area and runs around the clock. To ride, download the Waymo app and join the interest list. A tracker that checked Waymo's Las Vegas fares reported a structure of about $9.49 base plus $1.23 per mile and $0.45 per minute before demand adjustments; Waymo hasn't confirmed those numbers, and the app shows the real price before you book.
From the airport to the Strip
Zoox serves Harry Reid at Terminal 1 (pickup on Level 0) and Terminal 3 (Level 0, Door 55), according to a September 2026 check; follow the airport's ride-share signs and the app's directions. Waymo uses dedicated autonomous vehicle zones at the same two terminals. Both charge more for airport trips than for a short hop on the Strip. More in Waymo at the airport.
What's coming
- Tesla: Nevada approved Tesla to run up to 5,000 robotaxis in Clark County in August 2026, but Tesla had not started service as of October 21, 2026, and it isn't authorized at the airport yet. See Tesla Robotaxi.
- Motional on Uber: a supervised pilot with a safety operator aboard; Motional is targeting driverless rides by the end of 2026.
- Zoox on Uber: announced for later in 2026.
Las Vegas Boulevard is crowded at night and during big events like CES. Robotaxis follow every traffic rule, so a short Strip trip can take longer than walking. For a hotel two doors away, walk.
